Montreal West Civic Recreation Association
The Montreal West Civic Recreation Association offers a wide variety of sports and activities to the youth of Montreal West and its surrounding communities of Notre-Dame-de-Grace, Hampstead, Cote Saint-luc and Lachine. We offer a number of sports new and diverse for each season encouraging our youth to participate no matter their skill level.

General Policies and Procedures
- The $30.00 annual membership fee, per family, is required and is non-refundable
- Most programs have limited registration and are on a first come, first serve basis. We cannot reserve a spot for anyone.
- Registration fees and/or programs are not transferable from one person to another.
- Registration fees must be paid in full at the time of registration through Amilia or the HCR. We do not accept cash or cheques
- Please note that you may register for a program only during the appropriate registration period.
- Applicable taxes must be added to all programs 14+
- A $10 service charge will be applied on all payments returned by the bank.
- If the program is canceled due to minimum registration, the full amount will be reimbursed.
- All programs are subject to change and cancellation. We apologize for any inconvenience.
- Certain programs are not eligible for early bird pricing
Fees
Resident fee
The resident fee is for Montreal West residents and does not apply to residents of Cote Saint-Luc, Hampstead or Lachine
Non-resident fee
The non resident fee is applied to everyone living outside the perimeter of Montreal West.
Refund Policy & Pictures
General Refund Policy
All refunds and cancellation requests are to be submitted by using the Refund Request Form found on our website.
All refund/cancellation requests will be processed as of the date the request is received by email.
The MWCRA membership fee of $30.00 is non-refundable.
Any refunds requested for a cancelled registration before the start of the first class is subject to a $25.00 administration fee.
Any refunds for a program that has already begun will be subject to a 20% administration fee and pro-rated. Refunds will only be accepted 2 weeks into the program . After completion of two weeks , no refund will be granted
Any refunds requested for medical reasons will be considered provided a valid doctors note has been provided. The refund will be subject to a 20% administration charge and will be pro-rated.
The MWCRA is going to great lengths to make as safe an environment for youth sports as possible in returning to play however there is still a degree of unpredictability anticipated . No refunds will be issued for classes missed by the participant, including vacation time, illness, COVID quarantine or lack of attendance.
If a class is cancelled/postponed by the MWCRA we will make every effort to re-schedule the class. We will do our best to re-schedule on the same day and time, but there is no guarantee .
If a program is cancelled by the MWCRA, we will issue a refund for the remining classes. Please note the MWCRA annual family membership fee of $30.00 is non-refundable.
The above statement is applicable to all recreation programs administered by the CRA.
NSF Cheques will be charged $10 processing fee.
Pictures
The Montreal West Civic Recreation Association may take photographs/recordings of parents, coaches and/or minor child during programs and activities which you have registered for or attend. These pictures/recordings may be used for future promotional purposes, on brochures, flyers, websites and marketing material without any compensation and remain the property of the Montreal West Civic Recreation Association.

Mudhens Baseball
Welcome to the MUDHENS! This is a competitive baseball Program open to Montreal West Residents only. The league has teams play a 10 game season plus playoffs and finals. Practices, weekend games and travelling to other communities such as CSL, Hampstead and Westmount are a part of this program.
Players are divided into 4 categories: Mosquito, Peewee, Bantam & Midget.
Program is run by our Baseball Director Howie Schwartz from Concordia Baseball.

Mini Baseball
This program is an introduction to the Intercommunity Baseball Program. Under the direction Sportball Canada players are taught technical skills such as throwing, running bases, hitting the ball , catching and fielding.

Basketball
This is a weekly co-ed basketball pick-up program led by David Steiner.
The main objective of this program is for children to exercise and have fun while doing basketball drills consisting of dribbling, passing and shooting.
It is a non-competitive environment. The program is designed to have fun while learning techniques so that children can play basketball.
Coach David Steiner has been involved in basketball all his life, coaching, officiating and playing in leagues throughout Montreal.
Anyone can play basketball. The key for the kids is that they learn the basics of the game in a non-competitive environment.
There are three groups:
Group 1: 6-10 years old
Group 2:11+
Group 3:14+

This is a weekly outdoor pick-up basketball program coached by David Steiner.

Champions at Play
The program offers children ages 4-9 the opportunity to learn new skills such as throwing, catching and running through demonstrations, practice and challenge stations.
We will use a movement map to show the kids what skills they are working on and reward cards so they can track their progress.
Must be 4 as of October 1 at the beginning of the program and without diapers to participate.

Figure Skating
Our program follows Skate Canada guidelines and awards badges from levels 1 to 6 that are colourful and fun.
The objectives of the program are to teach basic to more advanced skating skills and to provide participants with a safe and welcoming environment.
Develop skating and motor skills through natural learning phases
Use skill progression and repetition throughout the stages to bring and establish basic quality skating skills.
Foster personal achievement and satisfaction through skills development, rewards and recognition

Gymnastics
The program offers preschool and recreational gymnastics classes with equipment circuits and progressive gymnastics classes from our beginners to more advanced preschoolers. We will use gymnastics, songs, games and much more!
Must be 3 1/2 at the beginning of the program and without diapers to participate.

Hockey Future Stars Ages 4-5-6
This program is open to residents of Montreal West, Hampstead and surrounding communities.
The objective of this program is to provide children with content, methods and a framework that leads to the acquisition of basic technical and tactical ice hockey skills. Stimulate their interest in field hockey and their desire to play by offering them a structured and enjoyable program.
To provide sufficient technical and tactical skills to allow children to choose to participate in recreational or competitive programs as they progress in their development.
Ensure that the learning environment is FUN and non-competitive. Players are on the ice twice a week. Registration is done online through the Hockey Canada Registry.

Hockey Minor
Go KNIGHTS Go!
Single letter field hockey is reserved for residents of Montreal West.

Registration for single letter field hockey is done online via the Hockey Canada Registry.
Registration OPENS on August 1st and closes on August 28th for EVERYONE. No exceptions can be made as final registrations must be submitted to Hockey Québec before August 30th.

Hockey Youth 18+
The Montreal West youth field hockey program includes 1 exhibition game, 20 season games, + playoffs (4 games) with a referee. Format to be determined according to the number of teams registered.

Judo
Our program is an introduction to judo in a fun, safe and non -competitive environment. Participants will learn techniques needed to progress through the belt system and will be evaluated at the end of each session. All participants will be affiliated with Judo Quebec’s initiation program.
New this year our program will offer an introduction to competitions within the Montreal region. Additional fees will apply if a participant would like to participate in competitions as a separate affiliation is required with judo Quebec.

Rugby
The MWCRA Rugby Program is under the direction of Coaches Susy Binstock, Patrick Ghattas & Cathy Nicholas certified rugby coaches.
Players will learn basic rugby knowledge, ball handling, safe contact skills and game situations. Teams will attend jamborees throughout the season and each player will be affiliated with Rugby Quebec.

Skating Lessons 5+
Our skating program focuses on the development of fundamental movements organized into six levels of learning.
The program begins as an introduction to forward skating, gliding, stopping and backward skating for participants who are new to skating or unable to skate across the width of the ice for more advanced skaters. We develop their balance and skills through Levels 1 to 6 by developing their technique and balance.
Participants will be evaluated in the first class and then placed in their appropriate group.
Participants must wear a field hockey helmet with face protection, elbow and knee pads, thick warm gloves and snow pants are preferred.
Must be 5 years of age to participate at the beginning of the program.

Skating Lessons - Parent & Tot
Welcome to our brand new skating course program "Parent & Tot". This program focuses on learning to skate through games and fun activities with parents and children together on the ice.
Our head coach Mackenzie Bullett will be there to organize and support you while parents introduce their little ones to skating.
Each child must be accompanied by an adult on the ice at all times. Adults must wear skates, no footwear is permitted on the ice.
3 and 4 years old

Skating Lessons - Preschool Skate (Ages 3 & 4)
PreSchool Skate is the "First Steps" of our "Skating Lesson" program, designed for "walkers" aged 3 and 4. When you sign up for PreSchool Skate, your child will participate in a group program that focuses on fun, participation and basic skill development. Classes encourage learning through play and progression through different stations.
All classes are group classes and last 25 minutes on ice with a low instructor to skater ratio.
Participants must wear a field hockey helmet with face protection, elbow and knee pads, thick warm gloves and snow pants are preferred.

Indoor Soccer (Ages 5+)
Our indoor soccer program is 10 weeks per session. There are two separate sessions, one in the fall and one in the winter. The program is supervised and taught by our soccer director Greg MacGregor and the assistant coaches.
The objective of these courses is to improve skills and technique. Class sizes are kept small to ensure that each player receives individual attention, space is limited.
Classes are held in the Royal West Academy gymnasium. The schedule is approved by the school prior to the start of the session but is subject to change depending on school availability.
Group 1: Micro 5 & 6 (mixed)

Soccer U8+
MWCRA recreational soccer program provides exposure to soccer in the community to youth that possess a wide variety of skill and interest for the purpose of promoting good health, sportsmanship, teamwork, competition, and developing a love for the game of soccer.
All youth involved should have the type of positive experience no matter their level or experience.
We strive to support ALL of our players and coaches through quality structured programs and constant availability of technical support.
General Information
- This program runs from May - June for 6 weeks
- Teams are made after mandatory evaluations in April
- There is one practice and one game per week
Outdoor Soccer - Mini
Micro Soccer focuses on skill development and fun through organized drills and mini-games. Participants are divided into teams with a coach. Practices are led by volunteer coaches who receive weekly training plans. Our program coordinator and his team are in the field at all times to ensure that everything runs smoothly.

Soccer 17+
This program is for men and women of 17 years and older. All players will be given the opportunity to learn and play recreational soccer.
All athletic abilities are accepted. No previous experience is required. Coach Greg MacGregor will guide players through the rules of soccer as well as teach basic and more advanced skills.

Sportball
Sportball is a drop Off program that help kids ages 3 and up develop independence and build confidence by attending classes “all by themselves.”
Coaches engage younger children with creative storylines and special themes and connect with older kids as leaders and mentors.
Kids will be participating in popular sports such as– hockey, soccer, football, baseball, basketball, volleyball, golf and tennis.
